Raise Your Voice, Not Your Guns: A Charlotte Community Day in Honor of Marquise Harrison

On Saturday, June 7, from 1 PM to 5 PM, the Charlotte community will come together for a powerful and inspiring event titled “Raise Your Voice, Not Your Guns: Community Day.” Held at SOCM, 2201 Caronia Street, Charlotte, NC, this day is dedicated to unity, healing, and proactive change in the face of gun violence.

Honoring a Life, Inspiring a Movement

This year’s event holds special significance as it celebrates the life of Marquise Harrison, a cherished member of our community whose life was tragically cut short. In tribute to Marquise, his mother, Stephanie Harrison, will serve as the honorary guest and keynote speaker. Her strength and advocacy serve as a beacon of hope, urging others to channel their grief into action and healing.

What to Expect

This isn’t just a gathering—it’s a movement. The Community Day promises a vibrant mix of games, live music, food, shopping, family fun, and access to community resources. Whether you come for entertainment, support, or solidarity, you’ll find something meaningful.

The event is supported by leading organizations including:

  • BVP Project SafeHaven
  • Speak Up and Inspire / Earn Your Wings Book and Speaker Tour
  • CMPD
  • SOCM
  • GN Wearables
  • KEFA Academy
  • Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice
  • For the Struggle

A Call to Action

In a world where gun violence continues to affect too many lives, “Raise Your Voice, Not Your Guns” is more than a slogan—it’s a rallying cry. It’s about lifting our voices in remembrance, advocacy, and the pursuit of solutions that foster peace and resilience in our neighborhoods.

We encourage everyone in and around Charlotte to attend. Bring your children, bring your stories, and most importantly, bring your voice.
